RONDA town now has a new police chief.

Inspector Renato Albuera replaced Senior Inspector Jay-R Palcon during a formal turnover ceremony at the Ronda Police Station at 9 a.m. Friday, September 7

Palcon and 10 other police personnel from Ronda were ordered relieved by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas following the death of Mayor Mariano Blanco III on Wednesday, September 5.

Albuera, 50, was formerly the deputy police chief of Minglanilla before he was transferred to Ronda.

Born in Barangay San Roque, Cebu City, Albuera rose in ranks from Police Officer 1 until he became a Police Inspector last April.

Albuera told SunStar Cebu that he was instructed by Cebu Provincial Police Director Manuel Abrugena to primarily maintain the peace and order situation in Ronda especially since his transfer happened just as Ronda is in the thick of preparation for its annual fiesta celebration.

Albuera, however, refused to comment on whether they are still involved in the investigation on Blanco's case.

He said he leaves the investigation to the special task force organized by the PRO-Central Visayas to solve the case. (JKV)
