PRODUCING content everyday for the newspaper is no easy task. SunStar Davao is fortunate enough to have young blood who are proactive on the field to bring you the latest stories on a daily basis.

Here is a glimpse of what they do on a daily basis and why they love about it:

Juliet C. Revita, defense and general beat reporter

Being a reporter, just like any other job is not a piece of cake. It entails a great responsibility in terms of reporting the news. We carry the baggage of being flawless and careful everyday in delivering our reports and maintaining a balance stance while making it comprehensible to our readers.

Every day, we face different issues and come across with different people. We tell news-worthy stories that help inspire others through the articles we write and by this, we became a torch that enlightens the public about the present situation. We also become part of the people’s success through putting their achievements on paper.

What saddens me is that most people fail to realize the efforts rendered by media personalities. With just a simple mistake, we get criticized just because our story doesn’t align with their opinion.

Despite that, what I enjoy about my job is having a dynamic schedule. We are not stuck on fixed and daunting tasks everyday. It allows us to grow and develop as individuals through the first-hand experiences on the ground. It also enables us to translate our thoughts through written form. Every day awaits another lesson which makes our job exciting.

Lyka Amethyst H. Casamayor, governance and general beat reporter

I usually write about governance in Davao City. I visit offices to get updates about issues, concerns and development in the city. There are times that there are press conferences or forums which allow me to get the latest information.

What I really like about being a reporter is the feeling of being involved. I realized that there are a lot of things that I never cared about before or things that I did not know existed that are significant to the public, including me. Another thing that I like about this kind of work is the daily fulfillment. I feel productive and excited to learn everyday. It is never boring, never ordinary.

John Gilford A. Doquila, business reporter

As a business reporter, I get to talk with the executives of both public and private institutions and ask for different business updates regarding the industry.

Being a news reporter makes me understand how the business arena is just as diverse as the city. With the different industries Davao city is known for, business owners, too, have their goals and concerns that must be met and addressed.

Working for a news media outlet makes me adept in getting the latest news in town and also making me more knowledgeable with the things happening around me, an important aspect in shaping my opinion. After all, as a Filipino, I must be knowledgeable in where my country is heading to.

Committed to the clients

The history of Techno-Trade Resources, Inc. started when it was looking into developing the "perfect" roofing.

Having tested different types of roofings available in the market, Techno-Trade has come to the realization that a special plastic roofing would be a perfect roofing, thus, Metalplas was born.

With the company’s commitment to produce high quality plastic roofing that never rusts, produces a cool environment, and does not brittle, Metalplas is now accepted in the roofing industry.

As the company grows, the demand for their products and services also increases, thus, the company has to ensure that their products are competitive in the market.
