IT’S this time of the year once again when we get to go back to our alma mater and reminisce about high school life, one of the most memorable parts of our educational journey. But what is significant for us is that our batch is going to celebrate our 25th year as graduates in 2019.

Anticipation is even rising for next year’s celebration because it will be La Consolacion College-Bacolod’s centennial by then.

The road to our 25th has begun, and the pressure is on us, Silver Jubilarians.

And it started on Sunday when LCC-Bacolod high school batch 1993 turned over the key to our batch to host the 70th general alumni homecoming on September 1, 2019.

The 69th general homecoming this year started with a motorcade, followed by the raising of the colors of the sponsoring classes.

As an institution run by the religious, there was a concelebrated mass in the morning. The afternoon was more exciting with the Honoring of Alumni and the Search for Alumni Queen.

The highlight of it was the arrival of Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who was the guest of honor and keynote speaker. The program was attended by fellow LCCian and Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia. Also present were Congressman Greg Gasataya and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran. The LCC-Bacolod Alumni Association is headed by its president, Ricardo Presbitero Jr.

A time was also allotted for the election of class officers. And for our batch that will be hosting the 2019 alumni homecoming, we are headed by two dynamic men with Samuel John Solon as our president and Jovis Caezar Bachita as vice president.

We are also fortunate to have very active boys in our batch and, of course, all those who work behind the scenes.

The night capped through a cultural show with the theme of “Balik Dekada.” It was a kaleidoscope of performances that brought us back to the vibe of the previous decades.

This year’s sponsoring batch and Silver Jubilarians, batch 1993, wowed us with a medley of dances in the 90s.

As they ended the night with a bang, it reminded us that we now embark on our journey to our 25th year. It may be filled with highs and lows, and the path may not be paved, but it will definitely be fun.

Most of it would be a travel back memory lane as we recall our antics during our high school days, remembering our teachers and mentors who have molded us to be the persons we are today.

While the sponsorship of the alumni homecoming may seem to just be all fun, what will really shine through is the batch unity, how every individual is willing to be part of the solution for the challenges ahead.

And it is not just the efforts of the Silver Jubilarians that will make next year a success, but also with the support of the LCC-Bacolod alumni association board officers, other sponsoring classes and graduates of this institution, and external establishments and individuals.

For LCC-Bacolod, which is turning 100 years in 2019, its graduates will be a living testament that it is indeed a “Community of Friends.” Whether they are home or in any part of the globe, the spirit of LCC will live in the hearts of every person that was educated, trained and nurtured in the Augustinian values.
