5 steps to be productive

HAVE you ever wanted to be a very productive person? Once in my life I did. After hanging out with friends and observing them do their work, I realized I have not always been the most productive person though I was still doing well in achieving my goals.

What I have learned from an instructor of the Saint John Paul II College, Engr. Marian Joy Castro, and an admin staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11, Gieralou Asoy, was that all successes had taken their bruises and lumps in their respective careers.

And to maximize every minute of the day, here are five habits that productive people do:

1. Make a list of what things to do

Make a brief list of all the things you need to accomplish. Having a list of actions that needs to be done keeps successful people motivated and constantly progressing.

2. Focus on one thing at a time

Productive people put most of their time and energy into one task. Though multitasking can be a good idea, but here the productivity will be limited unlike focusing on one thing at a time.

3. Eliminate distractions

One cannot focus on his/her task with distractions around him/her. Productive people give themselves the gift of momentum by eliminating distractions from immediate surroundings.

4. Balance home and work

Real productivity is not only focusing on a job. Making time for yourself and family and friends is also a must for you to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor to keep yourself from exhaustion.

5. Learn from mistakes and grow

It’s okay to fail from time to time. Nobody is really immune to failure but that’s not a bad thing. Successful people are focused on growth more than the outcome of failure.

In a fast-paced life, being productive is important to maximize your day. Achieving your goals one step at a time is possible with the right time management and attitude.
