PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has retained a “very good” net trust score, even though he suffered an eight-point decline in the second quarter of 2018, according to the latest poll released by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The June 27 to 30 survey found that 70 percent of adulg Filipinos have “much trust” in Duterte, 13 percent have “little trust” in the Chief Executive. About 18 percent were ambivalent on the matter.

The poll results yielded a net satisfaction rating of “very good” +57, lower compared to March's “very good” +65.

Duterte's net trust rating stayed “excellent” in his bailiwick in Mindanao, even as it dropped a point from +89 in March to +88 in June.

It also remained “very good” in Balance Luzon, despite the three points drop from March's +53 to June's +50.

However, his net trust scores fell by two grades and one grade, respectively, in Visayas (from “excellent” +70 to “good” +49) and Metro Manila (from “very good” +62 to “good” +42).

Among college graduates, Duterte's net trust score also dropped by one grade from March's “excellent” +76 to June's “very good” +64.

It stayed “very good” among elementary graduates (+58 from +56), high school graduates (+56 from +66), and non-elementary graduates (+55 from +68).

Reacting to the SWS's survey, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said the President was working “double time” to address the needs of the Filipino people.

“We thank our people for their continuing vote of confidence for President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during this challenging time,” Roque said in a statement.

“The Palace views the latest survey results with humility; however, we have to take note that regardless of ratings, the President remains focused on his job of governing the nation. Much remains to be done, especially in assisting the poor, vulnerable and severely hungry families,” he added.

The SWS interviewed around 1,200 adult Filipinos using sampling error margins of ±3 percentage points for national percentages, and ±6 percentage points each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. (SunStar Philippines)
