Coastal road project still on track

DAVAO City Councilor Jesus Joseph Zozobrado assured that they can still meet the target date for starting the city's coastal road project although they are still identifying and monitoring areas that might be affected by the project.

“I don’t think na ma-behind ta (I don't see any delay),” he said during the Pulong-Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) Tuesday, September 4, adding that the target date is still a long way off. The project is targeted to start in the first quarter of 2019.

“Most especially diri sa siyudad, daghan ta ug mga infrastructure projects like bypass roads and our ongoing coastal roads at ang sisimulan na railway projects (We have a lot of infrastructure projects like bypass roads, coastal roads and railway projects),” he said.

The coastal road project has an estimated budget of P19.8 billion, covering 19.8 kilometers along the shoreline from Talomo District going towards Poblacion District.

“The funding of the project is P1.96 billion for 2017, P3.3 billion this year, P5.045 billion for 2019, another P5.772 billion for 2020, and P3.741 billion for 2021,” Zozobrado said.

The project will be divided into three segments to prioritize funding.

Segment A will be from Bago Aplaya to Times Beach; segment B will be from Times Beach to Roxas Avenue; and segment C will be Roxas Avenue to Sta. Ana Pier Road.

“We all know that the objective now of our government is (to) “Build, Build, Build” and so with that, everyone is geared towards development in all areas,” Zozobrado said.
