Fil-Chi group donates 15 motorcycles for Oro cops

AT LEAST 15 motorcycles were formally turned over by the Filipino-Chinese Community in Cagayan de Oro City to the local police office over the weekend.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said the donated units were turned over to Cocpo's mobile patrol unit to further strengthen security in the city.

"Actually nagamit nani atong fiesta celebration karon lang ang formal turnover (These were already used during the fiesta celebration but we just had the formal turnover today)," Hortillosa said.

The Cocpo has expressed its gratitude to the Filipino-Chinese Community for seeing the need of the local police in terms of mobility.

Hortillosa said the local police will have to set aside a budget for the regular fuel supply of the motorcycles.

"Nagpasalamat mi kay nakita nila ang kakulang sa kapolisan ug dako kini kaayo og tabang sa mobility para mabantayan nato og ayo ang dakbayan ug aron mas mapalig-on pa ang atong seguridad kay dunay mga areas nga mobile patrol ang kailangan (We are thankful because it is a great help for our mobile capability to intensify our security especially in the areas where mobile patrolling is most needed)," Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa has reminded the personnel who will use the motorcycles to take good care of each unit.

"Ang instruction ni City Police Director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon nga areglahon gyud ang motor kay kung mawalaan kita sa mobile capability dako kani og problema nato (The instruction of our City Police director is to take care of the motorcycle because mobility is one of our concerns)," he added.

Hortillosa also urged the public to report if the personnel entrusted with the motorcycles abuse or misuse the motorcycle, more so, if it is being used in unlawful activities.
