SPECIAL Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go inaugurated the Malasakit Center at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City Sunday, September 9.

He was with Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino during the inauguration, along with Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Silay City Mayor Mark Andrew Golez, Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen dela Cruz, CLMMRH chief Dr. Julius Drilo, and representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) and other agencies.

Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop medical assistance center where indigent patients confined at the regional hospital can avail of the medical assistance from various government agencies as the Office of the President, DOH, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) Corporation, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), among others.

“This will hasten the processing of medical assistance. We have Malasakit identification cards wherein the patients can avail. This center will cater to the medical needs especially of the indigents, senior citizens, and persons with disability. We don’t want to burden family members especially the children of those senior citizens who are suffering from various illnesses. This is a fast lane for our beneficiaries. We need the cooperation of these agencies concerned for the smooth implementation of this program,” Go said.

He added these are the people’s money. “We just look for means on how these funds can reach your welfare. This is for the Filipinos.”

Moreover, Go also turned over the P5 million medical assistance to Drilon, who expressed his gratitude for the help.

The fund is from the Office of the President. They will give CLMMRH P5 million monthly medical assistance or a total of P60 million a year.
