Boosting Cebu’s culinary tourism

THE Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (Hrrac) aims to boost Cebu’s culinary tourism by launching “Cebu Goes Culinary,” the biggest and most awaited culinary event in the Visayas.

This annual culinary event provides an avenue for Cebuanos to maximize their potential in food or culinary tourism. In partnership with National Food Showdown (NFS), it seeks to develop the skills of both professionals and students aligned with the Tourism Industry.

This year’s “Cebu Goes Culinary” will be bigger and bolder with its newly added exciting competitions. Professionals as well as students will be showcasing their respective culinary expertise in the different sets of competitions.

One of the main highlights of the event is the “Klasika Kulinarya,” a competition participated in by a professional and a student. Competitors are required to come up with two versions of the Filipino dish humba. Contestants must make their own traditional and modern rendition of the recipe.

Aside from culinary competitions, “Cebu Goes Culinary” prepared a set of popular non-culinary competitions that would put talents and skills to the test: Flairtending, Cocktail Mixing, Chocolate Displays and Food Styling. The Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation Inc. will also showcase its finest collections from the premier world-class furniture makers of Cebu.

The competition serves a training ground for students in honing their skills and talents with the guidance of professionals in their different fields of expertise.

The main event will be held in the Skyhall of SM Seaside City Cebu. The Chocolate Displays and Table Setting Competitions will be at the Mountain Wing activity area, ground floor. Winners of the competition will be joining the Nationals on Oct. 26 and 27 in Metro Manila.
