THE University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Green Lancers and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis face off in the finals of the Cebu leg of the 33rd SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo after winning their semifinal matches last Saturday at the SHS-AdC Mango Avenue Campus Gym.

UV beat Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Greywolves, 74-40, using a late surge to leave the Bosconians at their wake. It was close at the onset with UV taking a 20-13 lead after a quarter. DBTC kept it within striking distance and was only trailing by seven points, 29-22, at halftime.

UV finally put a stamp in the game after outclassing DBTC in the third period. The Baby Green Lancers outscored DBTC, 26-9, for a commanding 55-31 lead at the end of the third quarter. Denisvee Sinoy led UV’s charge in that period with nine points.

From then on, it was all UV. The Baby Green Lancers outgunned the Greywolves again, 19-9, for a comfortable 34-point win.

It was a total team effort for UV, with only just one player not able to score. Sinoy and Selwyn Wag-wag scored 11 points each, while Jeric Yerro added 10.

No DBTC player hit double figures with Cabañero’s seven points a team-high.

UV had an early exit last season after losing to University of San Carlos (USC) 49-32 in the semifinals.

SHS-AdC Magis, in the meantime, beat sister squad SHS-AdC Lux Oriens, 41-24. SHS-AdC

Magis led all the way up until the final buzzer.

Jhoernel Tangkay and Nico Tuadles had seven points apiece for the Magis, while Aaron Abunawan and Sean Uribe also had seven points to lead SHS-AdC Lux Oriens. (EKA)
