City gears for Women’s Week celebration this September

THE City Government of San Fernando has started the celebration of Women’s Week Monday, September 10, by commemorating the 144th birth anniversary of local hero Nicolasa Dayrit.

The celebration started with the unveiling of the activities at the City Hall Atrium. The activities are expected to run until September 15.

Officials from the City Tourism Office, Local Council of Women and Gender and Development office led the wreath laying and press conference at the hero’s ancestral home along Consunji Street.

The events will also feature story telling sessions for day care students of the city on September 10 and 11. There will also be games and creative activities for day care students on September 11 in a bid to familiarize younger generations on the life and the person that is Nicolasa Dayrit.

There will also be a quiz bee for Grade 6 students on September 11.

A specialized training on candle making will also be held for women of barangays Malpitic and Sindalan while a youth forum will be held for students of Sindalan High School, Pampanga High School, Nuestra Senora del Pilar Integrated School, San Nicolas Integrated School, Northville High School and San Isidro Integrated School. Some 100 students will be part of the forum.

Women from barangays San Isidro and Del Rosario will also be able to learn food processing through trainings from government agencies on September 12. There will also be a fashion accessories making on September 13.

The City Tourism Office will also be hosting the Mompreneurship Trade Fair at Vista Mall were women entrepreneurs will be selling and exhibiting their local crafts and products.

The City College of San Fernando will be hosting an essay writing and photography contest on women empowerment. Seminars on mental health for women, financial literacy and leadership will also be held.

The last activity for the Women’s Week will be the foot massage training for women of Barangay San Pedro sponsored by the Soroptimist International—Pampanga Star.
