MOISES Padilla, Negros Occidental Vice Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia Yulo and her husband, Felix Mathias Segundo Yulo III, surrendered Tuesday, September 11, to Western Visayas Police Director John Bulalacao.

The Yulos are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives, after two fragmentation grenades, firearms, and "illegal drugs" were seized from them in a checkpoint on Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla, in December 2017.

Bulalacao said the couple’s surrender took place at the Bacolod City police station.

On August 20, Negros Occidental Regional Trial Court Branch 63 Judge Cyclamen Jison-Fernandez issued an arrest warrant against the couple. A bail of P200,000 each has been set for their provisional liberty.

The couple was also charged with direct assault upon a person in authority due to the heated argument that ensued between them during the checkpoint in December 2017. The couple was able to post bail in April for this violation. (SunStar Philippines)
