Spearheaded by the City Government of Naga and under the supervision of Senior Insp. Roberto Crisanto Labrias Alpon III, Naga City Jail warden, the whole-day activity was part of the week-long celebration of the 11th Charter Day anniversary of Naga.

The activity started at 6 a.m. and lasted until 6 p.m.

The Inmates’ Day was held in dedication to those who are detained at the Naga City Jail for them to be able to feel the celebration of the city.

Inmates availed themselves of the various services during the event that included medical, dental and optical; and free haircut and massage.

For the medical services, there were a total of 135 inmates, 104 of them males and 11 females, who had themselves examined for any illnesses, while 21 (14 males and six females) inmates either had tooth filling or dental cleaning.

A total of 82 inmates (65 males, 17 females) underwent eye examinations; 88 inmates (69 males, 19 females) had haircuts; and 67 inmates (45 males, 22 females) availed themselves of the free massage.

The jail also received three units of sewing machines for the inmates’ dress-making training and livelihood program.

The Inmates’ Day was facilitated by doctors, dentists, nurses, City Hall employees and other service providers, while the turnover ceremony of the sewing machines was led by Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong, together with the rest of the City and some barangay officials.

The livelihood training was also one of Chiong’s priority programs for the inmates in Naga under its Transforming, Reconnecting and Advancing the Inmates of Naga (Train) Program.
