Students remember Fernandina heroine

SOME students from selected daycare centers and schools in San Fernando on Tuesday, September 11, remembered Fernandina heroine Nicolasa Dayrit through the "IsaPuso ang Makulay na Buhay ni Nicolasa Dayrit Pautakan Festival" at Heroes Hall in the City of San Fernando.

The event was organized by the City Government of San Fernando through the Executive Committee of Women's Week celebration.

Gender and Development (GAD) Office focal person Amalia Catacutan shared that the program aims to preserve Kapampangan culture and inform the youth about Nicolasa Dayrit so they would look up to her as a role model.

"We want to introduce Nicolasa Dayrit to the children so that they would appreciate the roles of each Kapampangan hero and heroine," Catacutan said.

The activity was composed of games like colored puzzle among daycare students, color the puzzle for grades 1, 2 and 3, and quiz bee for the grade 6, who all tackled the background and image of the unsung Kapampangan heroine.

The winners were Ashna Tupiano of Sindalan Daycare Center, John Ramiel Garcia of Malpitic Daycare Center, and Yshee Zuriel Calagui of Maimpis Daycare Center (Colored Puzzle); Grade 1 students Castiel Ann Torres of Alasas Elementary School, Jose Maria Tayao of San Fernando Elementary School, and Harrison Iñigo Maniwan of Sindalan Elementary School, Grade 2 students Jhyllianne Montemayor of Alasas Elementary School, Timothy Fabian of San Nicolas Integrated School, and Gabriel Samson of San Fernando Elementary School, Grade 3 students Alexis Tayao of San Fernando Elementary School, Astrid Danting of Alasas Elementary School, and John Viray of Magliman Integrated School (Color the Puzzle); and Grade 6 students Ayesha Faye Greñas of San Fernando Elementary School, Kyle Jailen Castro of Magliman Integrated School, and Kyla Mae Tindoc of San Nicolas Integrated School (Quiz Bee).
