THE Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) through its Cultural Exchange Department (CED) had chosen the Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Performing Arts as one of its grantee for the 2018 Cultural Exchange Local Tour Grants Program.

The group, composed of the Kanlaon Theater Guild and the Kagayon Dance Troupe, has chosen the Province of Siquijor and Dumaguete City to be the sites for its one-hour show titled “Panggas: Sowing the Bounties of the Arts Through Community Empowerment.”

The show in Siquijor will be on September 14 at 7 p.m. at the Siquijor provincial gym and September 15 at 7 p.m. in Dumaguete at the Rizal Boulevard Pantawan.

“Panggas,” a Hiligaynon term for “to sow” will be divided into five segments: “Gunita,” a contemporary dance choreographed by Jed Amihan of Air Dance which premiered in the 2018 International Dance Exchange of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in Dumaguete last April; “Duna,” an oratorio on the seven days of destruction of the environment. This piece was the champion in the Installation and Performance Arts Competition of the 2017 Mambukal Resort Mudpack Festival; “Tubig,” a contemporary dance choreographed by Georgette Sanchez on Ballet Philippines and was the champion in the contemporary dance category of the 2016 Sayaw Pinoy of National Commission for Culture and the Arts; “Si Iska Nga Permi Handa,” an interactive musical play about disaster preparedness, mitigation and adaptation which was the 2016 Ten Accomplished Youth Organization awardee under the auspices of the National Youth Commission and “Mugna” a fashion show on the creative industries of Calatrava and Kabankalan.

The free show is supported by the Provincial Government of Siquijor and the City of Dumaguete. (PR)
