AS PART of its sixth anniversary celebration, September Blooms, a Davao-grown flower shop, organized a floral and wedding workshop Tuesday evening, September 11, in the activity center of SM City Cagayan de Oro Uptown.

The workshop included basic flower arrangement, expert tips for flower care, do's and don'ts in bridal bouquet, and wedding tips.

“I would like to share my talent on how to do the flower arrangement. Basically, some of the people do not really know on how to use these local flowers efficiently, so that's why eto yung pinagpu-push through ko ngayon,” Kristine Sarceda, stylist, florist and general manager of September Blooms Flower Shoppe, said.

The event, according to Sarceda, is to make Kagay-anons know that September Blooms exists in Cagayan de Oro and to showcase “a better portfolio compared to the ones they have here in the market.”

“What we have now is that I'm teaching them the basics skills on how to do the crown, the boutonnieres, and we also provided them with the manuals,” Kristine Sarceda, stylist, florist and general manager of September Blooms Flower Shoppe, said.

The manuals, provided to those who underwent the workshop, contain information on the types of bridal bouquets, tips for basic flower care, do's and don'ts of fresh flower care, and tips on how to take good care of roses.

Sarceda also shared that she was, at first, hesitant to organize the workshop as she was told by other people that if she's going to offer a workshop to the public, her skills might be copied or imitated.

“But I have this idea na if you're going to really share it, kung ano yung skills mo, you can actually like mas ma expound mo pa ang talent mo with all the other things that you can make or you become more creative because you already imparted the creativity, yung basic,” Sarceda said.

“So the more you share it, the greater blessings that comes in,” she added.

September Blooms Flower Shoppe is a flower store established in 2012 in Davao. In 2017, three branches were set up in Cagayan de Oro City: one in Carmen, which was used as their office and storage; in Centrio Ayala Mall, although Sarceda said their contract with the said mall ended; and in SM City Cagayan de Oro Uptown.

Sarceda also mentioned that she will be opening a flower shop along Tomas Saco Street on September 18, wherein they will offer not only flowers but also chocolates.

“We're still materializing everything although some of it are already ready for release,” Sarceda said.

They will be serving cakes and pastries made from tablea chocolate as they wanted a chocolate that has a Filipino twist.

“Usually kasi when a client buys a flower, they usually incorporate with chocolate. Now, what they usually buy are Hershey’s Kisses, ganyan, sabi ko, ‘Kawawa naman yung Filipino chocolate,’” Sarceda said.

“Some of the good quality tableas are from the Philippines, so why not promote it, that they will learn to love the tableas that we have in a Filipino way. Giving chocolates in a Filipino way but somehow incorporating something na parang first class,” she added.

The floral-choco shop of September Blooms, according to Sarceda, will be open around 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
