Truck rams store in Benguet, 5 motorcycles crash in Abra

AT LEAST three were injured after a truck rammed into a store in Puguis, La Trinidad in Benguet on Wednesday, September 12.

The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station Traffic Management Section reported the vehicular accident occurred at 10:30 a.m., September 12, when it suffered from mechanical defect while traversing Longlong Road.

According to police, the truck, driven by Ryan Montealto, rammed into the store while side swiping another truck in the area. The sales lady of the store suffered minor injuries and was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

In Apayao Province, three motorcycles collided at Barangay San Carlos in Sta. Marcela town on Tuesday, September 11.

Investigation showed that the three motorcycles involved were traveling the same lane along the Barangay road from Barocboc going to San Carlos, all of Santa Marcela, Apayao.

Before they reached the national highway, the motorcycle owned and driven by Andy Millandres Anabesa, 34, turned left going to the public market but failed to make a signal. The second motorcycle owned by Roderick Ramos which was driven by a 15–year–old grade 10 student tried to overtake but side swept the steering bar Anabesa’s ride.

Anabesa’s back rider Carmen Taneca was pronounced dead on arrival as by the attending physician at the Sta. Marcela District Hospital while the other riders of the two including the third motorcycle owned by Danny Lopez and driven by a 16–year–old suffered minor injuries.

Police said all drivers involved in the accident failed to surrender their driver’s license.

In Abra Province, two motorcycles were also involved in a road crash on September 11.

Initial investigation showed Clitton Andolay Sumangpet, 31, nurse, and resident of Agoncillo St. Zone 3, Bangued aboard his motorcycle was traversing the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road in Barangay Mudeng, La Paz when another rider identified as Rey Tadeo Borillo, 45, construction worker and resident of Barangay Quillat, Langiden, encroached the opposite lane and accidentally bumped a road signage causing collision.

Both drivers sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

Police said the two drivers were allegedly under the influence of liquor while Borillo failed to show his driver’s license for verification.
