Business trainings for Marawi women

TO ALLEVIATE the current condition of Maranao women in Marawi, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Incorporated (PCCI) will conduct entrepreneurial trainings, a business leader said.

PCCI president Ma. Alegria Limjoco said there is heavy responsibility for the business sector to also be able to lend a hand in assisting the current condition of the Maranao women in Marawi.

“On the way of PCCI, we would be going to Marawi soon because we would like to help the women and weavers there. And we have partnered also with Bench,” Limjoco said on Thursday, September 13, 2018 during the Mindanao Business Conference at Big 8 Corporate Hotel, Tagum City.

Limjoco added that she will be signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on October 18, 2018 in order to start the project.

“I was able to visit Marawi shortly after about end of February, and we have seen Ground Zero there. They will bounce back easily,” Limjoco said.

She added with the vast entrepreneurial opportunities waiting for the Maranao community through business partnerships with private companies, victims of the harsh Marawi siege can be able to regain their financial situation back.

“Also the Philippine Franchise Association at that time gave 31 brands of franchises such as Potato Corner, Bibingkinitan, Fruit Magic with no franchise fee if they open in Marawi, just to help rebuild Marawi. And we are true to our word; and we will do that soon,” Limjoco said.

Limjoco also said with the 31 brands which already pledged their support in giving free franchise opportunities, representatives from the Marawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will match businessmen to the targeted Maranao entrepreneurs.

“I am confident that Mindanao will continue to serve as a beacon of hope for economic transformation where job creation and poverty alleviation are the key outcomes,” Limjoco added.
