THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental–I has launched its seventh site for Community-Managed Potable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (CPWASH) project at Barangay Dolis in Calatrava town.

Since the project was implemented in 2017, six agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (Arbos), their households and neighboring areas have already benefited from the low-cost drinking water and biofuel facilities.

These Arbos with 800 farmer-members are Dalayapan Agrarian Reform Cooperative at Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City; Hacienda Anita Agrarian Reform Cooperative at Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City; Mirasol Development Corporation Agrarian Reform Cooperative at Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Sagay City; Dapdap Agrarian Reform Cooperative at Barangay Dapdap, Manapla; Don Esteban Agrarian Reform Cooperative at Barangay Jonob-jonob, also in Escalante City; and Hacienda Pula Silay Agrarian Reform Cooperative at Barangay Guimbala-on, Silay City.

The latest recipient is the Dolis Agrarian Reform Cooperative composed of 119 farmer-members.

Calatrava Vice Mayor Marilyn Era, who was present at the unveiling rites on Thursday, said the local government is willing to help in the implementation of the project.

“Do your part and we will do our part too. The government chose you to receive this, it is up to you on how you will accept it," Era told the farmer-beneficiaries, urging them to manage it well “as it is not just for yourselves but for the next generations also.”

DAR-Negros Occidental I, in a statement, said it is set to launch another CPWASH project in two more sites in the province this month.

The recipients in Arbos are Nestorian Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association in Barangay San Miguel, Murcia and Nabinay Agrarian Reform Cooperative in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City.

The launching is on September 18 and 20, respectively.

Meanwhile, also present during the unveiling rites were DAR Provincial CPWASH project point person Teodoro Che Salido, officer-in-charge municipal agrarian reform program officer Julieta Mangao, and barangay officials.
