Capitol offices moving out this December

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the offices occupying the Provincial Administration Center (PAC) will move out on December to give way for the P1.7 billion investment of Dynamic Builders Inc.

Marañon revealed that some offices will move to the St. Francis Building that was formerly occupied by Pag-ibig.

Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the offices that will move out from PAC will have to wait for two to three years until the completion of the new PAC building that will be constructed soon.

The new PAC will cost P900 million which will be located at the back portion of the current structure, which will be demolished and will be replaced by a new high rise building of Dynamic Builders.

Gelvolea said the provincial government has been negotiating with the Philippine National Bank where some of the offices could vacate but they are still studying the cost.

The provincial government is looking for a total of 2,000 square meter space to accommodate all offices that presently occupy PAC.

The governor also said that once the P900 million new building is completed, other offices that presently occupy the Provincial Capitol Building will also transfer there.

"To stay at the Provincial Capitol building will be the offices of the Governor, Vice Governor, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial Administrator, Tourism and Legal Department," Marañon said.

However, he said the incoming governor may opt also to move to the new PAC building.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has already authorized Marañon to enter into a loan agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines in the amount of P1.2 billion to finance the various infrastructure projects including the P900 million for the construction of the new PAC building.
