DCWD to add well, reservoir to address water woes

THE Davao City Water District (DCWD) said that they will add another well and a reservoir in Upper Piedad, Toril District to solve water interruption in the area.

“We will be constructing an additional well, which will add down around 4,000-5,000 cubic meters of water per day,” DCDW spokesperson Jovana Duhaylungsod said during an interview with SunStar Davao Friday.

“Aside po sa well, we will also be constructing a reservoir,” she

said, adding that the reservoir will be placed in a much more elevated area.

Duhaylungsod also said bidding of the project was done and they are just waiting for the supplier to comply with the documentary requirements.

Meanwhile, Peter Paul Egloria, a resident of Upper Piedad, on his Facebook post urged DCWD to take action on the water concerns in their area.

He said that they have been experiencing inconsistent water supply every day for years, while their bill is very consistent.

“The areas po kasi, in terms of elevation, medyo mataas. The area is covered under Toril water system. The system has two wells or water sources,” Duhaylungsod said, adding that then interruptions are usually during peak hours only.

She also said that if the project will be implemented, there will be water supply even during peak hours.

DCWD will start the construction in October or November this year which is expected to finish within 300-calendar days after implementation.

“Pero hindi pa po agad visible ang project dahil at the onset of the project, we will be complying with the permit,” she said.
