3 dead, 1 injured in separate incidents in Cebu

CEBU (Updated) -- Three men died, while another was wounded in separate stabbing and shooting incidents in Mandaue City, Naga City, Lapu-Lapu City and Aloguinsan in the past two days.

Past 1 a.m. Sunday, September 16, in Sitio Tribunal, Barangay Centro, Mandaue City, Jay John Patucan, 35, was allegedly stabbed to death by Oliver Lumapas, 27.

Investigation conducted by Mandaue City Police Station 1 showed that Patucan and Lumapas were drinking separately with their friends.

After Lumapas saw Patucan, the suspect got a knife and stabbed him several times.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old aeronautical student died in a hospital after he was shot in Sito Cagudoy, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City past 7 p.m. Saturday, September 15.

The victim was identified as Kristian Saldavia. Initial investigation by Lapu-Lapu City Police Station 4 showed that the victim was eating noodles in a store before the gunman arrived.

The culprit, a stranger in the village, approached the student and shot him several times.

In Sitio Bernisan, Barangay Esperanza, Aloguinsan, Socrates Alferez Lorensana, 39, was shot at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, September 15.

The victim was drinking liquor at the house of Edgar Mabano, a barangay tanod of Esperanza. After their drinking spree, Lorensana went to his house.

He was shot several times by an unidentified suspect, while walking alone. He was hit in the right chest, right hand and left face. Lorensana was rushed to Carcar District Hospital by Mabano.

Past 10 p.m. in Barangay Tuyan, Naga City, Jonbert Dacay, 20, was shot dead inside a passenger multicab. The assailants were two men on board a motorcycle.

Dacay was riding a multicab bound for Cebu City. When the vehicle's driver stopped to pick up a passenger, the culprits drove near Dakay and shot him at close range.

The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head. The motives of the shooting incidents are still under investigation. (KAL)
