2 dead, 2 hurt as motorcycle plunges into canal

TWO people died while two others were injured when the motorcycle they were riding fell into a concrete irrigation canal in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported on Sunday, September 16.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, disclosed the incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. Saturday in the village of La Union, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez identified the fatalities as Hans Jefferson Languido, 18, and Joshua Languido, 17, both students.

Wounded were John Lloyd Bacor, 24, driver of the ill-fated motorcycle, and Jasper Midwasa, 18.

Galvez said that Hans Jefferson was rushed but failed to reach alive in the district hospital while Joshua expired while in transit to the Zamboanga del Norte Medical Cener in Dipolog City.

Galvez said the four, aboard on a motorcycle, were on the way home coming from a disco held at the covered court of La Union village.

She said the four were believed to be intoxicated with alcohol drinks as they were since having a drinking session while at the disco. (SunStar Philippines)
