7 injured in Gensan blast

LESS than a month since the bombing incidents in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, another bombing incident happened in broad daylight at the National Highway, Barangay Apopong, General Santos City on Sunday, September 16 wherein seven civilians sustained injury.

In a statement of Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID) spokesperson Captain Jerry Lamosao, around 11:55 a.m. an explosion incident happened at the vicinity of Generics Pharmacy and Brigada Pharmacy crossing Makar Road in General Santos City which incurred several injuries.

The initial lists of victims are Jessly Yrome Guyos, 19, Polomolok, South Cotabato; Joanna Bless P. Alipyo, 6, South Cotabato; Filippa Regidor, 63, Apopong in General Santos; Lally Jean Alipyo, 34, Polomolok, South Cotabato; John Lennon Calong, 22, Isulan,Sultan Kudarat; Claire Uozia, 24, Koronadal City; and Marlon Orabia, 30, Apopong, General Santos.

The victims, however, are non-critical based on the diagnosis by Dr. Rafael of St. Elizabeth Hospital where they were rushed.

The explosion also damaged a tent and one SUV where the bomb exploded.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams of General Santos City Police Office and Joint Task Force (JTF) Gensan are currently conducting paneling and assessment at the blast site.

Lamosao said as of Sunday, they could not pinpoint yet as to the identities of the perpetrators or the group behind the attack as the investigation is still ongoing.

“10ID condemns this act of terrorism. Authorities are conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrators. Meanwhile, we appeal to the public to be extra cautious and vigilant and report immediately to the authorities suspicious persons and unattended baggage in crowded places,” he said.
