Bacolod council seeks to reorganize TF Botagoy

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting Mayor Evelio Leonardia to reconstitute and reorganize the Task Force Botagoy to ensure that City Ordinance No. 459 is effectively and efficiently implemented.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Bartolome Orola, stated in the light of the recent resignation of the head of Task Force Botagoy, the task force became inactive.

“Increasing reports of illegal slaughtering happening in various areas barangays were brought to my attention which causes concern as to the safe and hygienic handling of meat for sale to the public,” Orola said.

He said it is imperative to reconstitute and reorganize the Task Force and to assign the members thereof including the police personnel to assist in the function of the Task Force and to see to it that meat offered for sale to the public are healthy, wholesome, and sale for human consumption.

Orola noted that City Ordinance No. 459, series of 2008 established the guidelines and policies in the apprehension and confiscation of illegally slaughtered animals, including slaughtering paraphernalia, in the City of Bacolod and creating a Task Force Botagoy for its implementation and providing penalties.
