THE Redemptorist priest who claimed his life was threatened has declined the security offered by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas.

Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, PRO-Central Visayas director, said they were told by the officials of Our Mother of Perpetual Help-Redemptorist in Cebu City that Fr. Amado Picardal has "felt secured." He said Picardal's fellow priests were thankful to the police's offer.

They will ask the police help if there is a need to. PRO-Central Visayas chaplain Superintendent Raynaldo Pañiar had talked with the Redemptorist priests last September 5.

"Fr. Picardal is in good, safe hands," Sinas said. "Amo na lang silang i-monitor kon mangayo ba silag tabang sa amoa."

Last August, Picardal posted on his blog that he opted not to go out in public after Redemptorist monastery workers saw motorcycle-riding men watching the compound three times last August.

The priest has been identified as a critic of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Redemptorist church security guards Prudencio Entrecoso and Ludigario Panonce, in an earlier report, said they do not remember seeing motorcycle-riding men in the compound. (KAL)
