Lawmaker welcomes PCL national convention delegates

FIRST District Representative Celso Lobregat on Tuesday warmly welcomed the close to 2,000 delegates for the three-day Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) National Convention in Zamboanga City.

Lobregat said the presence of the legislators from all over the country is a huge boost to the local economy and tourism.

As of Tuesday afternoon, September 18, a total of 1,760 councilors from the different parts of the country arrived in the city. More are expected to arrive on Wednesday, September 19. The convention opens Wednesday and ends Friday, September 21.

Lobregat hopes the delegates to the PCL national convention will be impressed by the hospitality and accommodation afforded them since they included first term legislators, who are also in their first time to see Zamboanga City.

“For and in behalf of the Congressional Office of District 1, I would like to welcome all the delegates of the PCL who will stay here in our city for the next three to four days. Bienvenidos a todos!” Lobregat said.

He urged hotel owners, tour operators, utility providers, communication and transport sectors “to serve our visitors with utmost courtesy and humility for them to appreciate the Zamboangeño hospitality and not to go home with a heavy heart and disgust.”

“I am appealing to all the sectors of our society to please accommodate our PCL visitors properly so that they will feel at home and safe while in Zamboanga City,” Lobregat said.

The lawmaker also called on the law enforcers to beef up security to ensure that all the venues and other places of visitations of the PCL delegates are safe and secured. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
