Lawmaker calls for fraud inquiry on City Hall employee

A CITY Councilor here urged the City Council to investigate over the alleged incident at the City Hall Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative (Chemco) where an employee allegedly withdraws about P100,000 from the savings account of other nine City Hall employees.

In his special report, Councilor Zaldy Ocon said the nine employees reported to him about the incident.

He said a regular employee at the City Engineering’s Office has withdrawn an amount ranging from P800 to P29,000 from other employees without their authorization.

Ocon disclosed that the person even managed to write an authorization letter as a requirement for the withdrawal and forged the signatures of the victims.

“Upon my verification, naghimo siya ug authorization pero tingala ang usa ka biktima kay wala man siya nagsuso, gi-forge ang signature. We referred this to the mayor and according to suspect, single mother siya ug galisod siya, but this is not an excuse to steal money from 9 people. Kung kaisa lang siguro madawat pa, pero kung kapila na, that’s another thing,” Ocon said.

The councilor referred the concern to the committee on cooperative chaired by Councilor Eric Salcedo to investigate and possibly impose punishment to the person responsible.
