MisOr guv keen on reelection bid

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano on Monday, September 17, said he is hoping that the Padayon Pilipino party and its allied political groups will allow him to bid for his last term as governor of the province.

"I hope that my party and Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP) will allow me to run for the governorship and not other position," Emano told reporters.

But, the governor said he will be forced to accept if the party pushes him to run against Mayor Oscar Moreno for the mayoral post in Cagayan de Oro with the support of the HnP and Nacionalista party.

Emano said he would follow whatever decision the party leaders and members would make.

"Mapugos ko og dagan sa syudad kung maoy hukom sa partido ug suportahan sa HnP ug sa Nacionalista party. Depende sa partido kung kinsa ilang ipadagan for mayor sa Cagayan de Oro pero andam ako sa tanang panahon(I will be forced to run in the city if the party decides with HnP and Nacionalista support. The party determines who they would like to run for mayor in Cagayan de Oro, but I am ready at all times)," Emano said.

"Sayang baya gyud kung dili ko makapadayon sa ikatulong termino (It would be a missed opportunity if I cannot complete my third term),"he added.

But, Emano said even if he bids for his last term, there is no guarantee yet that he would win in the election.

"But even if I run in the province walay guarantee kay sa matag piliay naay gitawag nga gamble(it’s a gamble in every election), you might make it or not make it," Emano said.

The capitol's top official has earlier announced that the party will released its full slate in the province next week.

The filing of certificate of candidacy for the 2019 midterm elections is on October 11-17.
