Solar panels in establishments

IN A BID to improve the energy supply of Mindanao, establishments are being encouraged to install solar panels as an additional source of power, a business leader said.

Aboitiz Power Distributed Energy general manager Jose Rafael Mendoza said establishments like schools, malls, and manufacturing plants are potential sites for solar panels because these places highly operate within the day.

“A good example for the use of power is example for malls. Just use the panels in the roof and you are injecting energy supply already, given that malls operate starting at around nine o’clock in the morning,” Mendoza said during the 27th Mindanao Business Conference (MinBizCon) at Big 8 Corporate Hotel, Tagum City.

Mendoza added even schools can be a huge beneficiary of this renewed energy from the sun.

“Schools are highly sensitive to this also given their weekends and holiday loads are a lot different from their typical consumption, and even manufacturing can factor in your requirements,” Mendoza added.

He said in this way, schools can have better options in providing light in their classrooms by means of renewable energy.

Mendoza added the manufacturing plants can also have an alternative option in having lesser cost in their production given the renewable energy source.

“Some of our offices in Cebu are run by solar panels which also help because office transactions starts within the day,” Mendoza said.
