A CITY investment officer said the agricultural practices of Hawaii can be adopted by Davao City agribusiness owners and farmers to learn.
“Mainly ang pag-adto nato dadtoa para sa sign sa agreement ug number two para i-check ang ilahang practices especially ang ilahang agricultural practices (Mainly the reason of going there is to sign the agreement and number two is to check their practices especially there agricultural practices),” Davao City Investment and Promotions Center (DCIPC) officer-in-charge Lemuel G. Ortonio said in an interview on Tuesday, September 18, at DCIPC office, Magsaysay Park, Davao City.
One of the places the City Government of Davao visited was the the Kaua’i Coffee Plantation, one of the biggest coffee plantation in Kaua’i, Hawai’i, United States (US).
Ontorio said the Dabawenyo delegates saw the advanced practices of agricultural practices in Kaua’i which can be brought in the city like the use of agricultural drones to survey the area.
He said the coffee plantation utilizes machines to ease the workload especially for watering the coffee plants and harvesting coffee beans.
Meanwhile, Ortonio said the visit will help reinforce the ties between Davao City and the County of Kaua’i.
Ortonio said they also got information from the consular office of the Philippines in Honolulu that business delegation from Hawai’i will visit Davao City by October this year.
“We hope nga diria nata maka-comeup ug potential business opportunities diria sa Davao city (We hope that in this way we can come up with potential business opportunities here Davao city),” Ontario said.
