TO PREVENT possible spillover of the recent bombings in Soccsksargen, the police in Davao Region deployed additional personnel in strategic areas.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao regional director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales condemned the recent atrocities perpetrated by lawless armed groups in neighboring region.

Morales said he immediately instructed the policemen in the region to tighten security in the established strategic checkpoints at all times. He also directed the police to heighten police visibility especially in all places of convergence.

He also ordered the deployment of maximum number of foot and mobile patrols in highly populated areas and major thoroughfares. They also coordinated with private and government security providers and security managers to establish and enhance all security protocols. Through this, intelligence monitoring and sharing of information with other law enforcement units will be enhanced.

Morales urged the public’s cooperation in reporting suspicious individuals and activities in their communities to preempt possible terroristic plots.

“We call on our people to be vigilant and continue their active participation with security forces in reporting their observations and intercepted information. We will validate and give our actions for the best interest of all in Davao Region. We encourage and appreciate you to notify or inform our PRO 11's hotline numbers and our social media pages for any suspicious person, baggage, and or activities happening in your locality,” Morales added.

He also assured that they will not lower their defenses considering the current security situation to sustain peace and order in the region and to protect Dabawenyos from threats of terrorism.
