IT was a glittering affair at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino for its 20th anniversary celebration. Dubbed “Timeless at Twenty,” the cocktail/dinner party had a “Roaring Twenties” theme. Yes, beads and bangles, suits and hats were the order of the night. Frontliner was the amiable general manager Anders Hallden who was here, there and everywhere. And very much part of the celebration was our good friend Marco Protacio who was a well-loved general manager of the hotel for many years before he relocated to Manila.

Another scintillating party with a ‘20s theme was the “World of Winners” affair hosted by Resorts World Manila for its top producers. Nothing was spared to make the celebration truly outstanding and we felt privileged to be invited along with Nelson and Angelita Dy of Grand Hope Travel. Men of the hour were Stephen Reilly, chief operating officer of Resorts World Manila, and Kingson Sian, president/chief operating officer and executive director of Alliance Global Group Inc. a holding company where Megaworld Corp. is one of the subsidiaries.

Fond memories of the late Roberto Aboitiz flashed at the official launch of the book he authored with Matthias “Bube” Mendezona entitled “You Can’t Save 80 Million Filipinos! But You Can Build Me a Park.” Venue was the Casa Gorordo Museum where a dedicated group gathered on a lovely Saturday afternoon.

Family and friends trooped to the beautiful manse of Dr. Troy and Sheila Uy up the hills of Maria Luisa Park to greet their lovely Mom Aida Uy a happy, happy birthday. In attendance were the rest of the Uy siblings—Twinkle and husband Warren Chu and their children from Ormoc; and Mitchelle and Cathy from Manila. Missed was Russel who is based in San Francisco, California.

An intimate dinner party at Casino Español de Cebu marked Gabby Leyson’s diamond year, thanks to his ladylove Tina Jordana who organized the surprise gathering. And she even sang his favorite song—“Moon River” in a duet with daughter Sofia. Gabby was beaming all night.
