LUEY Sorongon and Elena Calanas emerged champions in their respective divisions in the Department of Education (Deped) Davao City Table Tennis Tournament held at the DES Table Tennis Center along Vinzons St. in Barrio Obrero.
Sorongon of the Southern Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary (SPBTS) beat Collins Caballero of the Sta. Ana National High School (SANHS), 3-1, in the DepEd men's singles finals.
Caballero took the runner-up honors instead while Bartolome Elementary School principal Rey Bautista and SANHS principal George Wong settled for third and fourth, respectively.
Kabacan Elementary School's Calanas, meanwhile, captured the DepEd women's title over Diego Silang ES's Arabella Gaban whom she routed, 3-0. The latter placed second, while DepEd employee Junelyn Degorio finished third.
In the Davao City men's singles category, Gil Ablanque of the Crossing Bayabas National High School subdued Metro Davao Table Tennis Association (Medatta) player Antonio Palban, 3-0, to pocket the title. (MLSA)
