Incumbent Oro mayor eyes reelection

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Tuesday, September 18, announced that he will seek a third term in 2019 and that his slate for next year's elections is already complete.

Moreno, however, said that the election campaign is still not one of his priorities right now.

“Trabaho lang ko, kahibalo ko kompleto na, pero ako focus lang kos trabaho (my focus now is to work), that's the best politics,” Moreno said.

Moreno said it is important that his colleagues at the city government in his last term are all “kaabag” to sustain the growth of Cagayan de Oro.

“Of course I will run kay daghan pay gusto buhaton, more services should be delivered to sustain the momentum of growth and prosperity, we have been doing good on our infrastructure, health, and education programs,” he said.

“Our credibility and attractiveness to investments is at its peak. We have been conferred with awards, because we have been focusing on the right things dili traditional politics,” the mayor said.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the period of filing of candidacies for the 2019 midterm elections.

Aspiring bets should file their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) from the rescheduled date set on October 11 to 17, 2018, authorized by the Comelec en banc on Wednesday, September 12.

Voters will need to fill in the seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, positions from provincial governors to city/municipal councilors, and from governor and vice governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to members of its regional legislative assembly.
