Councilor wants competition for water district

DAVAO City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang wanted to open the competition for water utilities in the city to improve the water delivery service of Davao City Water District (DCWD).

Dayanghirang said a good competition would compel DCWD to give better service.

He said like what happened in Metro Manila where there are two water companies providing services to the people, such scenario in Davao City would mean better water delivery service to the residents of the second district where he resides.

"Maybe if DCWD has a competition, they would be motivated to bring better service especially to those in the second district," Dayanghirang said.

He lamented that the people in district two have to bear the double burden of paying for the water district’s service and purchasing drinking water at the same time. This is because the water in the second district is not suitable for drinking unless it is boiled.

"The color of the water in District two is very disturbing," Dayanghirang said. (BOT)
