MALACANANG pledged on Thursday, September 20, to provide assistance to victims of a deadly landslide in the City of Naga, Cebu, that killed four people.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said the Palace extended its sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families of victims who were killed when a portion of a mountain collapsed in a village in Naga early Thursday morning.

"Nakikiramay po kami doon sa mga naging biktima ng landslide sa Naga (We condole with the victims of landslide in Naga)," Roque said in a press conference.

"At asahan niyo po na lahat naman po ay gagawin ng gobyerno para maibsan 'yung pagdadalamhati na nararamdaman ng mga biktima. At titingnan po natin kung paano maiiwasan ang mga ganitomg pangyayari sa mga darating pa na panahon," he added.

(Expect that the government will exhaust all efforts to ease the pain of the victims. And we will see how to avoid the repeat of such incident.)

Four people, including a four-year-old girl, died while over two dozens others were feared buried alive when a portion of a mountain collapsed in Naga's Tinaan village.
