Tagum arnisadors shine

TAGUM City clinched a total of one gold medal, two silvers in the ongoing Batang Pinoy 2018 National Championships arnis competition at St. Louis University Junior High School in Baguio City as of Tuesday evening.

Patricia Benares and Kryzle Faith Enrique combined forces to nail the girls traditional team double weapon gold.

Benares and Enrique bested Bacolod City pair Juliane Marie Oberes and Lovely Joy Pabiana and Baguio City tandem Chantal Caithe Rapanut and Princess Angel Orpilla who settled for the silver and bronze, respectively.

Tagum's duo of Jonna Lea Colendres and Janne Carla Tecson, however, fell short of the gold and took the silver instead in girls traditional team single weapon event that was topped by Jean Villadar and Cheska Lian Borrero of Bacolod City. The bronze went to South Cotabato's Ellaine Marriane Bayani and Criscel Sondia.

Colendres and Tecson copped Tagum's second silver in girls 7-12 traditional team open category. Bacolod's Villadar and Borrero clinched the gold anew while Baguio City's Natasha Joi Ann Leal and None Evita Mabalot pocketed the bronze.

Tecson salvaged a bronze in girls 7-12 traditional individual open.

Davao del Norte, meanwhile, annexed a silver in boys traditional anyo team event (double weapon) from the joint efforts of Christian Ian Managas and Cyber John Lagula.

Over at the Baguio Athletic Bowl, Mel Joy Gonzales of Davao del Norte clocked one minute and 5.15 seconds to claim the bronze in secondary girls 400-meter run.

Laguna's Sharlaine Saguid (59.98) and Tarlac's Alexandrarose Tabian (1:04.16) grabbed the gold and silver, respectively.
