THE journey of Dabawenya singer Lyra Micolob in GMA’s “The Clash” may have ended already but many believe that it is not yet the end of everything for her.

Last September 15, four of the remaining eight contestants of the television reality program showed off what they have to emerge as winners and proceed to the next level.

During Episode 20’s “Matira and Matibay” round, which was aired as well last September 15, Lyra sang Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Both Christian Bautista and Lani Misalucha picked her over Jong Madaliday of Cotabato City. Her luck did not continue, though, until the next episode.

Lyra, who definitely did everything to give a soulful rendition of the Whitney Houston original “Try It on My Own,” was placed on the bottom two of Episode 21.

In the “Matira ang Matibay” round, the 23-year-old singer did Alicia Keys’ “Fallin.” Despite a heart-warming performance, she failed to win the nod of the judges. Christian, Lani, and Ai-Ai delas Alas were unanimous in choosing Golden Cañedo of Cebu City who belted out “Kailangan Kita.”

Having stayed up to the 21st episode, Lyra’s feat in “The Clash” is surely something that every Dabawenyo can be proud of. Being the 8th placer among the Top 62 of the thousands of hopefuls who auditioned for the show is truly a great achievement already. She has proven her versatility as a performer as well as the strength of her voice.

“I’ll forever be grateful and blessed! Thank you ‘The Clash’ for this great and fulfilling opportunity! So far, eto po ang pinakamalayong narating ko in joining singing competitions sa buhay. Top 8 is a big achievement for me! No regrets! I’m super happy! My heart is overflowing now with love and joy for the Lord guided me and never left me in all the episodes. Thank you Lord for sustaining me,” she posted on her personal Facebook account.

“I’ll always treasure all the learning and experience I gained in this competition! The best eto! Di ko to makakalimutan sa buong buhay ko! Puno ng saya at kulay!” she continued. “Thank you The Clash Family!!!! Mahal na mahal ko po kayo! Sa family and relatives ko and sa lahat ng naniniwala at sumusuporta sa akin from the very beginning, taos puso po akong magpapasalamat sa inyo!”

Her experience in the Kapuso weekend show could just be the start of more opportunities for her especially that a number of people in the entertainment industry believe in her.

“Lyra, you have to remember that you will not get this far if you are not that good. Aside from possessing a unique voice, you’re a beautiful lady with a beautiful character. Love you,” Lani tweeted.

Meanwhile, popular choreographer and dance coach Juan Paulo Infante described how she is as a performer and as a person to her co-clashers.

“During the workshop days, I already saw na uy sino to magaling ah. That’s why I pushed you more by not saying it to you. As your journey in ‘The Clash’ continued, unti-unti ko nakikita kung bakit gusto kang kasama ng mga clashers kasi bundle of joy ka all the time. You’re always smiling and having a good time with them. If there is one word to describe you it is UNIQUE. Yung style mo, yung character mo at yung boses mo ay kakaiba kaya sigurado akong malayo pa ang paglalakbay ng iyong career,” he said.

Amid losing in “The Clash,” Lyra made a commitment: she will never quit.

“Performing in front of you is my happiness and all I wanted is to share it with all of you!” she said.

Good luck, Lyra! I am already so excited to hear your songs over the airwaves and write about your chart-topping hits!
