Minors served liquor at bar; 2 arrested

THE Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) takes into custody two female minors they found inside a drinking establishment near a school in Barangay Carmen on Wednesday night, September 19.

One student, according to RCB, was not able to present any proper identification card to establish her age, while the other presented her school ID which she alleged reflected her wrong birth date, indicating she will only turn 18 on September 25.

"The RCB will continue to verify the identification and information given by the students and will closely coordinate with school officials," the RCB said.

A Notice of Inspection Findings were issued to the drinking establishment.

Antonio Resma Jr., RCB Secretary, who lead the inspection team said the establishment has 10 days to secure permit to operate as a bar and should settle fines amounting to P500 to P5,000, per Ordinance No. 13994-2018 or the Cagayan de Oro City Comprehensive Children's Welfare Code of 2018.

Resma said they continue to appeal to the city's business establishments to cooperate.

"Please ask for proper identification before serving liquor and other intoxicating drinks to your customers," Resma said.

Just last September 13, 2 minors inside a drinking establishment were also rescued by the same team.

The RCB is strengthening its campaign to protect minors against intoxicating drinks. Minors are prohibited from buying and consuming any liquor, alcoholic drinks.

This campaign is part of the City Government's efforts to be a Child-Friendly City.
