Oca welcomes face-off with Nadya for 2019

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said he sees no problem with reports that a Nadya-Lordan tandem is in the works for the midterm election on May 2019.

In an interview, Moreno welcomed the possibility of having Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe as his opponent for mayor and Councilor Lordan Suan against Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin “Kikang” Uy, saying "it’s everyone's right to run for office."

"Walay problema, ila man ng katungod, okay lang (No problem, it's their right, it's okay). You cannot prevent anyone aspiring to serve the people, you cannot take it against them," Moreno said.

"Sa katawhan lang gihapon ang pagbuot niana (It's still up to the people)," the mayor added.

Moreno will be on his last term as mayor if he wins the next elections while Uy still has 2 terms more as vice mayor.

Councilor Nadya meanwhile is on her last term now as councilor and it is still not clear if the councilor will run for any position in the next elections. Suan for his part, still has got 2 terms if he plans to be reelected as City Councilor.

Earlier this month, Padayon Pilipino vice president and Cagayan de Oro City councilor Leon Gan announced over a radio program that he is endorsing Suan for the second top post in the city because he is more than qualified.
