Davao police: 400 slots up for grabs

POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Davao bared that some 400 slots are still up for grabs for their regular recruitment quota, thus, they are calling on aspiring individuals who wish to enter the police service to send their application.

Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz on Wednesday, September 19, said that this year, they have 800 quota for new policemen, however, only half were able to qualify throughout the process, leaving 400 vacancies.

She said that there were around 700 who applied for policeman, lower compared to the actual quota. Of this number, 464 passed the medical exams, neuro and drug tests. It could also down once the complete background investigation is done.

The first batch will hold their oath taking on September 28.

“We are encouraging everyone especially those who are qualified [to apply],” Driz said.

The new breed of cops is expected to increase the manpower strength of the police force in Davao region in addressing criminality, threats of terrorism, drug menace and insurgency.

A policeman with PO1 rank is receiving monthly base pay of P29,668.

Meanwhile, for the required minimum qualifications of the applicant, they must be a citizen of the Philippines; a person of good moral character; must have passed the psychiatric/psychological, drug and physical tests to be administered by the PNP; must possess a formal baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning institution.

Applicants must also be eligible and had passed the Philippine National Police (PNP) Entrance of the National Police Commission, or RA No. 1080 (Bar and Board Examinations) or PD No. 907 (CS eligibility to College Honor Graduates).

Likewise, the applicants must not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government and not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude.

Aspirants must also be at least one meter and sixty-two centimeters (1.62m) in height for male and one meter and fifty-seven centimeters (1.57m) with not more or less than five kilograms (5kg) from the standard weight corresponding to his/her weight, age, and sex; and must not be less than twenty-one (21) nor more than 30 years old.
