A MOVEMENT for gender equality urged transport groups in Davao City to advertise "breaking stereotypes and gender equality" during its launching last Monday, September 17.
During the launching of #inFAIRness, the organizers gave stickers to the transport group indicating their advocacies.
"Sila [transport sector] talaga yung aming gustong i-tap para dito para mas mabilis makita, marining, malaman yung about sa gender equality," Hans Kevin Madanguit, #inFAIRness project manager, said during an interview with SunStar Davao, adding that a lot of people are spending so much time commuting so it's a good chance to spread their advocacies.
"Sana makita ko yung mga stickers na ipinamahagi at sana after months or a year makita natin yung shift sa Davao kung paano nakikita ng tao ang pagkakapantay-pantay ng kasarian," Madanguit said.
Meanwhile, the Australian government, through Australian Embassy Counsellor, Claire Duffield, said they support Davao City in promoting gender equality.
"We are happy working with the Philippines, especially Davao, and supporting campaigns that could impact peoples' lives," Duffield said.
Davao City Councilor Avegayle Omalza said the government is also supportive of these advocacies because the city was declared the "gender and development learning hub" in the Philippines.
