THE top police official in Central Visayas said there are no threats on journalists working in Cebu and other parts of the region.

“As of now, there is none,” said Chief Supt. Debold Sinas.

Sinas said he has nothing against the media and he assured he will protect any media practitioner who receives threats.

He gave police security to a local radio broadcaster after the latter received threats even if he often attacked him in his program.

“You can still attack me,” he said. “If you need our help, we will go.”

Sinas was the guest of the Cebu Citizens-Press Council’s 48th quarterly meeting en banc yesterday. The event was sponsored by the Adnama Mining Resources Inc.

The police official, now in his third month as Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 director, said he has no problem with all local government officials except Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

“Except for Osmeña, everything is fine,” Sinas said. He said the mayor has a “preconceived notion” against the police.

Osmeña believed that the police are involved in some killings in Cebu. (KAL)
