P155-M rice crops lost to Ompong

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported Thursday, September 20, that Pampanga has sustained some P155,524,645 worth of damages to rice crops due to the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut).

The PDRMMO, basing its report on data from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, disclosed damages in nine Pampanga towns and the City of San Fernando.

Guagua town reported some P617,512 worth of damages along with Lubao with P330,189; Sta. Rita with P19,812,744; and the City of San Fernando, P1,054,756.

Sta. Ana town also reported damages to its rice crops at P613,749; San Simon P2,873,600; and Apalit 28,488,784.

Candaba town has registered the biggest damages at P97,156,541. San Luis town also reported damages worth P4,117,868 along with Sto. Tomas at P458,900.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Pampanga has distributed more than P1-million worth of food packs to flood victims in the province.

The PDRRMO said the 5,343 packs were distributed in the towns of Lubao, Arayat and San Luis.

The number of families in evacuation centers has fallen to 3,373 people as more families are returning to their homes.

The number of flooded barangays has been recorded at 56 as of press time. However, a considerable number of barangays in Masantol, Macabebe, San Luis and Candaba are still flooded.
