AFTER the successful implementation of Oplan Dabaw Kalinaw (ODK) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, the Police Regional Office (PRO) launched the program in Digos City, Davao del Sur on September 19.
PRO-Davao regional director Marcelo Morales reminded the personnel during the sendoff ceremony of the security forces to observe discipline and value sense of integrity in performing their tasks and adhere to the current peace-building efforts of the government.
"The internal cleansing is very serious in eradicating erring cops. I am expecting you to be diligent and prompt in performing your duties since we are expected to perform our Constitutional mandate to protect and serve the people," Morales said.
PRO-Davao spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz said with the prevailing security situation, this is deemed to help improved the security condition in Davao del Sur.
She said ODK is designed to counter terrorism and anti-criminality operations. It also includes identification, background check and profiling of transient residents, and manhunt operations of wanted persons or fugitives hiding.
It also includes the enforcement of traffic laws, curfew on minors and other related laws and ordinances implemented by the local government unit.
Aside from police-related operations, they will also conduct community service for residents.
The security forces conduct community outreach program such as free medical checkup and giving of medicines. Community empowerment is also conducted through crime prevention education and giving them information and education campaign (IEC) materials. (JCR)
