Team Bacolod gets 10 gold, 10 silver, 13 bronze medals in Batang Pinoy

TEAM Bacolod has so far won 10 gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze medals after three days in the ongoing 2018 Batang Pinoy National Championships, co-hosted by Baguio City and Benguet Province from September 17 to 21.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia congratulated the Bacolod delegation saying, “we are proud of our Batang Pinoy contingent. Finishing among the top in a field of almost 80 local government units is a reason to celebrate.”

“As we are trying to inculcate the culture of excellence in our other endeavors in Bacolod City, sports and youth development must also be among our focus and priorities,” he said.

As of September 19, the athletes from Bacolod had collected the following medals:

Arnis – 4 gold, 7 silver, 4 bronze

Athletics – 3 gold

Table Tennis – 1 gold

Karate-do – 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze

Taekwondo – 1 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze

Swimming – 2 bronze

About 90 athletes from Bacolod City are competing in 10 disciplines, including chess, sepak takraw, volleyball, and gymnastics. (PR)
