FORMER-sexy-star-turned-politician Communications Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux Uson is better in entertaining the public than promoting the Duterte government's proposed shift to federalism, former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr. said Friday, September 21.

Pimentel, a member of the Constitutional Commission (Con-Com) who drafted the proposed federal charter, advised Uson to distance herself from the issue of federalism, since she is not adept at the proposal.

He believed that the Communications official would not be of big help, as she was only sowing confusion among the public amid the information drive on the proposed federal charter.

"Si Assistant Secretary Mocha, dapat siguro nandoon siya sa entertainment lang (Assistant Secretary Mocha is better to be just in entertainment)," the former Senate leader told a press conference.

"Huwag naman siya sasali sa mga isyu na mukhang hindi naman niya naiintindihan. Lalong nagkakagulo ang pag-iisip ng taumbayan (She should not join the discussions about federalism if she does not understand it. The countrymen only get confused)," he added.

Mocha, who gained popularity as the leader of all-female Mocha Girls dance group before being appointed in government, has found herself in another fiasco after she previously uploaded a video that featured blogger Drew Olivar's lewd "pepedederalismo" jingle.

The controversial federalism video involving Uson made rounds on social media weeks after the Con-Com had considered tapping her in disseminating information about the proposed federalism.

Uson said she respects the view of Pimentel, but stressed that the latter should also show respect to her previous job.

"Ginagalang ko po ang opinyon ni Sir Nene. Proud po ako na ako'y dating entertainer. Pero sana 'wag niyang nila "lang" ang pag-sasayaw (I respect Sir Nene's opinion. I'm proud of me being a former entertainer. He should have not taken it for granted)," she said.

"At sana pinanuod muna niya ang video bago siya nag-komento dahil hindi naman po ako ang sumayaw sa video ng pederalismo (And he should have also watched the video before he made a comment because I was not the one who danced on the federalism video)," she added. (SunStar Philippines)
