SOME 3,000 runners will run for a good cause in the Gaisano Country Mall 25th Anniversary run on Oct. 28, which will start and finish at the Gaisano Country Mall. All the proceeds of the run will be given to the Missionaries of the Poor.
“We are very grateful. I’m speaking for those who cannot speak. Our prayers go out to the participants of this run and that they will be healthy,” said Brother Murray Goodman MOP in yesterday’s press conference at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Gaisano Country Mall.
The Missionaries of the Poor have been in the Philippines for 25 years and run two homes here in Cebu–one for abandoned and handicapped children, and the other for the abandoned handicapped young adults and adults.
“It’s my first time being here in this important milestone of our family business. I hope and pray that this will be successful as it was in the past years,” said Alyssa Jan Gaisano, one of the owners of Gaisano Country Mall.
The run will have the 21K, 15K, 10K and 5K divisions.
However, there will be something new this year as they will include the 6K Extra Challenge, a six-kilometer distance race that will have an obstacle course. It will be held at the Central Command Grandstand in Camp Lapu-Lapu.
The obstacles in the course are the monkey bars, high step overs, low crawl, classic football run, jump over obstacle, tirewall and maze.
The 6K Extra Challenge is only open to Filipinos who are 18 to 45 years old.
The top 10 finishers of the 21K and 15K distances will be given cash prizes aside from a medal and a finishers shirt.
The registration fees for the event are P400 for the 5K, P500 for the 10K, P600 for the 15K, P700 for the 21K and P800 for the 6K Extra Challenge.
