TO have a separate focus on its motorbike products, the Gateway Group opened the first independent BMW motorbike showroom in the Philippines last Wednesday at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
Michael Goho, executive vice president of the Gateway Group, which distributes the BMW brand in Cebu, said that having this stand-alone showroom is their priority.
“The BMW brand speaks for itself. This brand is synonymous to performance and quality,” assured Goho.
SMC Asia Car Distributor Corp. president Spencer Yu said their target is not just Cebuanos, but also the motorbike users from neighboring islands.
Even with the rising fuel costs, Yu claimed that selling such motorcycles is not a challenge for them, as riders who want these motorbikes do not consider these factors.
For Goho, he said that the market usually tends to adjust eventually.
“We have fully invested in this bike business because we know that there is truly a market and Cebu is ready,” he said.
Goho said that the demand for BMW bikes has grown 60 percent every year since 2015.
“In fact, the sales this year had already surpassed last year’s total, so it is growing rapidly. Grabe kapaspas ang tubo especially karong panahuna (The growth is exponential, especially these days),” Goho added.
Due to the rising demand for their products, he assured that BMW worldwide is geared towards progress in this division in bringing more bikes to the market and to increase their visibility to have the complete lineup of BMW motorbikes.
Aside from selling motorbikes, the standalone showroom also sells motorcycle apparel such as jackets and helmets.
